World of Warcraft: Forever has nine classes and five races per faction: four familiar races each, plus the new Skyborne, who come in a Horde version and an Alliance version. Six race/class combinations are new, including Undead (Forsaken) Paladins and Dwarf Shamans. Playing a Skyborne requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition.

The tables come from Blizzard's article "Create the Hero You Want to Be in World of Warcraft: Forever" of September 22, 2026.

The nine classes

Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior. Blizzard has published class deep dives for the Hunter and Druid, Priest and Warrior (September 30), Mage and Shaman, and Rogue and Warlock (October 7).

The six new combinations

Announced in the BlizzCon Deep Dive panel and repeated on September 22:

  • Gnome Priest
  • Human Hunter
  • Dwarf Shaman
  • Orc Mage
  • Troll Warlock
  • Undead Paladin

Blizzard says more combinations are planned for future updates, without naming them.

The Skyborne

The Skyborne are the new race of Forever, presented in "WoW: Forever Meet the New Skyborne" (September 22). Blizzard's press fact sheet describes them as High Elf exiles who fled their ancient kingdom and are free to join either faction; the Found Photos recap also calls them shen'dorei, the "hidden people".

  • Two versions: the Windshaper Skyborne join the Horde, the High Order Skyborne join the Alliance.
  • Classes: both can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids, with druid forms of their own. Only the Windshaper can be Shamans, only the High Order can be Mages.
  • Starting zone: Zephras Isle, from level 1 to 12, an elemental starting experience among the skies with architecture inspired by Skywall.
  • Racial abilities: Walk on Air, Wind Blessed and Elemental Insight, plus Skysight for the Windshaper or Read Ley Line for the High Order.
  • Access: according to the legal notes of the Forever page and the shop, the Skyborne and Zephras Isle require the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher. See editions and prices.

On October 7 Blizzard announced that Standard Definition models for the Skyborne, druid forms included, are in development and arriving in early 2027.

Forsaken Paladins

The Undead Paladin is one of the headline novelties: the Forever page puts "the Forsaken Paladin or Dwarf Shaman" front and centre. According to the Found Photos recap, their path runs through Bandarion Keep, in Whispering Wood (Tirisfal Glades), and an epic mount awaits them at level 60.

Racial abilities

Each race has two active and two passive racial abilities (Deep Dive recap). The full list for every race, with what each ability does, is in Blizzard's September 22 article linked in the sources.

What we don't know yet

  • Which combinations will come next, and when: Blizzard only says more are planned.
  • The exact date of the Skyborne Standard Definition models: only "early 2027".
  • Deep dives for the Paladin: none published as of October 10.

Race, class and zone names in Italian and Spanish are in the glossary. To choose where to play, read the guide to rulesets.

Do I need to pay extra to play the Skyborne?
Yes. Blizzard's legal notes say the Skyborne and Zephras Isle require the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition.
Are the Skyborne Horde or Alliance?
Both: the Windshaper Skyborne are Horde and can be Shamans, the High Order Skyborne are Alliance and can be Mages.
